The fourth generation 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid goes on sale next year.  The best-in-class estimated fuel-economy matches most versions of the Corolla compact sedan. It seats 8 passengers and has 240 horsepower.

The manufacturer-estimated combined fuel consumption is 6.9 L/100km (34 US mpg). The increased mileage is due to several factors: a downsized powertrain, lighter nickel-metal hydride battery, lighter frame, and better aerodynamics.
