Volvo Boosts Production of PHEVs

Last year in the United States, Volvo sold just under 1,500 XC90 PHEVs, just over 2,100 XC60 PHEVs, and less than 500 S90s. At the same time, it sold nearly a combined 27,000 hybrid plug-ins in Europe.

The company announced an improvement of about 15% of the range of their the upcoming XC60 and XC90 hybrid models. The current models have about 27 km of electric range, which would give the new ones a range of about 32 km. Other car manufacturers, such as Audi, BMW and Jeep, have also announced their intention to boost their lines of hybrid plug-in SUVs. The new Volvos will have a lot of competition.
