Ford Explorer PHEV Announced for EU
Ford announced a new Explorer Plug-In Hybrid that will be for sale in Europe at the end of 2019. The same PHEV system will be available in the Lincoln Aviator Plug-In Hybrid in the US. Ford doesn’t sell Lincolns in Europe.
The Explorer PHEV will use many of the same systems as the Aviator PHEV including drivetrain and transmission. It will have a combined 443 horsepower, 3.0‑litre EcoBoost V6 engine, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Explorer PHEV will offer 40 kilometres of electric-only range. The Europe-only SUV should offer a good indication of the specs for the Aviator PHEV, slated for the US.
